Avengers/Spider-Man Deal Reached

The rumor of the Spider-Man franchise hanging in Limbo is now over. Sony Pictures and Marvel has reached a historic deal unifying the Marvel universe with its most popular heroes. Not to throw any shade on DC but they are now waaaaay behind on the super hero bandwagon. The only thing they can do to top this is.....

Nothing. Not a damn thing.  But, that's my opinion. Do you think I'm wrong?

UPDATE: February 11, 2015

I just got wind that Andrew Garfield, which to me is the Christopher Reeves of the Spider-Man universe is going to be replaced. And to top it off, put Spider-Man, yet again in High School and probably have yet another stupid origin of how he came to be.

This is the worst decision ever to come from Marvel and heres why:

Marvel and the rest of the corporate studios believes movie goers are dumb-asses. And like most corporate companies they spend their time trying to people-please everyone. First off, most people are very smart, or if not smart - knowledgeable. Even if you are not a fan of Spider-Man and don’t know who he is and how he came to be, there’s this little thing called the internet which nearly everyone living on Earth has access to through their cell phones. We don’t need nor want another Spider-Man origin film. Maybe a couple of flashbacks but make him fighting 85% of the time in the movie.

Why put him back in high school? Duh, of course it’s to keep a younger demographic so the younger market can grow with the franchise. Great strategy. However, isn’t Spider-Man’s theme: with great power, comes great responsibility? You’re not that responsible in High School. It would be better to have him as a working student. (Yes, like the Sam Raimi version, but not as geeky) Having Peter/Spider-Man go through real life situations will resonate more with all people. Spider-Man is Peter’s out, like boxing is mine. This is why Andrew Garfield works. He gave swag to Spidey. A combinations of confidence, humor and intelligence - exactly what Spider-Man embodies.

Therefore, DO NOT REPLACE ANDREW GARFIELD. I know there’s a pool of acting talent that’s more affordable and can possibly bring life to the character, but we already got to know and love Garfield’s version. However, if you were to change the character from Peter Parker to Mile Morales, Donald Glover is the way to go. A more believable, urban version of Spider-Man would be a hit. A young, ethnic boy raised with great morals in a terrible neighborhood struggles to own up to his responsibilities as a college student and hero - The Spectacular Spider-Man. I like the sound of that. What do you think?

Robotech A Reality.

March 26, 2015 - Update

Variety has just posted that Sony just acquired the rights to one of my favorite story of all time. For those who don't know, just imagine a story which spans generations, a la Star Wars with blend of  Independence Day, mixed with a little of Transformers. The question is: Can Sony pull this off?

For those who don't know, Robotech is the father to Transformers, cousin to Star Wars. And just like Star Wars, it spans generations. Robotech, an anime cartoon which debut in the 80's is awesome story of love, tragedy and duty. I wrote a draft of this movie about 8 years ago just for fun because I loved the series so much. My log line went as follows: The fate of the human race lies in the hands of fearless soldiers and the Robotechnology of a alien Battleship, which is being hunted by gargantuan, warrior bred species.

Needless to say, I am ecstatic that the powers that be are pushing hard to make this movie a reality. Michael Gordon, the uber talented scribe who penned Zack Synder's 300 and GI Joe: Rise of Cobra is writing the script. If anyone can bring this anime classic to life it's Michael Gordon. (However, Mr. Gordon if you're reading this, I'd be more than happy to share my notes;-) Andy Muschietti is said to direct.

working on a top secret project...

I think the trailer is great. Reminds me of Interstellar though. What are your thoughts?

Josh Trank, Director of the uber awesome Chronicle and Marvel's next entry into superhero movie domination, The Fantastic Four has released the highly anticipated look of the heroes suits.

I think the best choice they made was signing the talented Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch. Click on the link below to read the article from collider.com about this highly anticipated movie.

Make Your Mark

An exclusive behind the scenes look at how Tim Wen and Chidi Onyejuruwa created Symphony of Senses. This film/video was made for Make Your Mark, A Short Film Competition presented by the Producers Guild of America and Cadillac.

Tim Wen and Chidi Onyejuruwa are the winners of this year's Make Your Mark short film competition, sponsored by the Producers Guild of America and Cadillac.

Symphony of Senses will be screened during the PGA Awards Jan. 24, at the Century Plaza Hotel. A portion of film will be shown in Cadillac’s 30-second spot that will air on ABC during the Oscars on Feb. 22

A back story. I met Chidi 2 going on 3 years ago (Wow, how time flies.) A good friend of mine John connected me with another creative genius, Matt Nye. Wait, let me back up further. John and I met at the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida through another friend Arsenio. Now fast forward. I moved to Cali and my friend John hits me up and tells me of another friend, Matt, just moved to Cali to flourish his acting career and we should meet. A couple of days later, I drive to Studio City to meet with Matt and have a creative meeting of the minds. Guess who's Matt's roomate? Chidi. The amazing thing of this Six Degrees of Separation is that I've witnessed the ever humble Mr. Onyejuruwa, aggressively go after his dream. Hustlin' between photography, filming and editing weddings to survive and hon his skills, bringing him even closer to his dream. When it came down to do my project, he selfishly helped me by co-producing and being my DP. That's when I found out about Symphony of Senses. I was one of the few that got a sneak peak at what I can say is hands down one of the best commercials I've ever seen. After I finished, Chidi gave his usual, humble smile. I told him if ya'll don't win this the PGA is dumb and blind. Well, The PGA isn't dumb and blind. They chose the right ones for the win.

That being said. Tonight is all about Chidi and his highly deserved win. CONGRATULATIONS TIM WEN and CHIDI ONYEJURUWA

Scarlett Johansson Signs On to 'Ghost in the Shell'

Dreamworks officially announced that one of my favorite anime's is finally coming to the big screen as a live action movie. I remember seeing this groundbreaking anime when it was released in the Village in NYC soho back in 1995. The only thing is: why am I not happy about it? the answer Scarlett Johansson. Do not get me wrong, she is a great actress would fit the role perfectly if she was of Asian decent. Let me make a prediction. Cultures are not going to stand for this blatant disrespect any longer. It seems the only way to get Hollywood to listen is to hurt them where it counts - their money.

Would we see the movie Selma if Martin Luther King was played by Russell Crowe? Would we see a remake of Enter The Dragon if Bruce's character was play by Matt Damon? (honestly, maybe;-) I believe as the 21st century progresses we'll see a massive change with the inclusion of more diverse ethnicities in prominent roles as well as in the background. Here is a list of talented Asian Actress: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000185880/

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Tao Okamoto, the talented actress in The Wolverine playing Major Motoko Kusanagi, the main protagonist in Ghost in the Shell.

2015 and Beyond

As we approach the end of this year many of us plan and prepare for the next year. After going to church this last Sunday of the year I received a profound message from Pastor Rudy at University Christian Church. He said, "Heartache comes from expecting things God never promised." You should never feel so secure that you leave God out of your calculations. What I'm getting at is that it's okay to plan and prepare, but do so by adding the phrase "God willing." Never forget who is the pilot of your life.

That being said, I pray for all reading this that 2015 will be their best year yet! We will be doing alot of things, new films, adding tutorials, connecting with you and other individuals who want to do and learn more. - God willing.

Thanks for your support and can't wait to connect with you all! Happy New Year and God bless!
